Padel scoreboard: be your own ref on court

Prop the phone by the net and tap the team that won the point. Padel scoring, one set or best of three or five, the serve tracked, a sound for every point and a bigger one for every game. Every time a game reaches deuce it asks you how this one ends: golden point, or advantage, and asks again if it comes back to deuce. Undo takes any tap back.

Keep the browser open on this page while you play: the ref keeps the screen awake and warns you before the page closes. Blue and red have different sounds, so you know the point went in without looking; a rising three for a game, a fanfare for a set, a crowd for the match.

How the scoring works

Points go 15, 30, 40, game. At 40 to 40 the board stops and asks: golden point, where the next point decides the game (the way the professional tours and most clubs play now), or advantage, where a team has to win two points in a row. Play advantage and lose it, and you are back at deuce; the board asks again, so a friendly match can switch to golden point the third time round without anyone arguing. Six games with a margin of two wins the set, or seven if it gets to six all (a tie-break counted as one game, which is how it feels when you are the one keeping score). The serve changes every game and the board shows who has it. Best of three means the first to two sets; best of five, the first to three.

Why tapping, for now

An earlier version listened for the colours. It heard well in a quiet room and badly on a windy court with four people shouting, and a phone's microphone stops listening after every silence and beeps each time it starts again.
