What a 3.0 does
- Volleys with a short swing and some direction
- Defends off the back glass
- Knows which side they play on, and why
What a 3.0 does not do yet
- Keep the net against a good lob: the overhead is a smash or nothing
- Aim volleys at the feet rather than back at the player
- Play down the middle on purpose
What to work on next
The bandeja, the overhead that keeps you at the net. Until it lands reliably, every lob against you is a coin toss. The bandeja: the shot that keeps you at the net.
On the other scales
The converter files 3.0 under Improver: consistent rallies, basic positioning, the odd lob and volley on purpose. That reads as MATCHi 4 and LTA 3.0; Padel Mates uses the same 0 to 7 numbers as Playtomic. None of it is official, and the bands hold to about half a point. Convert any number.
How the number moves
Beat a pair rated above you and you jump; lose to a pair rated below you and you fall. Matches entered as friendly do not count. Five to ten unforced errors in a set is the 3 to 3.5 band. The long version is in padel levels explained.
Test it
In Padel: The Game a 3.0 meets the 1200 PELO pair, Lucía and Marc (club). Solid club pair. Patient, they find your feet when you are deep.
The daily Scenario is filed by level, and the intermediate ones are the fair test at 3.0. One from the bank:
